The U-wing Starfighter was first seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The ship differs from the rest of the starfighters because it serves primarily as a troop transport. Its main purpose is to get people and supplies in and out of ground battles as opposed to inflicting damage to other ships. Though it joins the family of "lettered" starfighters a bit later in the Star Wars franchise, most would agree the shape of the ship integrates very well with the long standing universe. The S-foils articulate open and closed, 2 pilots fit into the cockpit, Landing gear can be folded out, doors can be opened and hull can comfortably hold at least 6 minifigures.
